Graphic design is sneaky. It is smuggling it’s way into galleries, all gussyed up and painted over like art. It will almost trick you into thinking it’s the real deal. But then you’re flicking through your Cosmopolitan magazine and you recognise the model from the Loreal advert and now she’s hanging on your wall.
A relative proudly shows you an original artwork they picked up from a friend of a friend, they ask if you’ve heard of them. You do a google search and find they have 3 different design websites, you spot your uncle’s new print in the background of half a dozen website wall paper designs.
13 days ago a friend showed me how people scan their artworks then use photoshop to improve them before they go to print.
I want to see the finger smudges, the brush hairs and the spots of booze dribbled on the paper.
